Job summary

NaphCare is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at the Ventress Correctional Facility in Clayton, Alabama. You will work alongside correctional officers and healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive medical care in a controlled environment.

New graduates are encouraged to apply. The role includes performing health screenings, administering medications, managing chronic conditions, responding to emergencies, and documenting patient care within secure facility protocols.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license in AL
• Active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
• Knowledge of nursing practice, occupational health & safety, infectious disease management and healthcare laws/regulations
• Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Able to work independently and in a team; flexible schedule and overtime availability
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to correctional policies and legal requirements
• Must pass criminal background check and drug screening

Responsibilities

• Perform initial health screenings and physical assessments of detainees.
• Monitor and document patient health including vital signs and medical histories.
• Provide direct patient care, triage, assess needs, develop care plans, and coordinate services.
• Manage acute and chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, hypertension, diabetes).
• Respond to medical emergencies, provide first aid, and coordinate transport to facilities.
