The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) seeks a licensed Registered Nurse who has completed a Nurse Practitioner program and is certified to prescribe under ORC 4723. Responsibilities include monitoring chronic illnesses, performing exams, coordinating referrals, and ensuring quality medical care in a secure institution.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
• Nurse Practitioner program completed and prescriber authority per ORC 4723.

Responsibilities

• Monitor progress of chronic illnesses; intervene using DRC policies.
• Inoculate or vaccinate; prescribe medications or administer treatment as trained.
• Perform routine physical exams to assess chronic conditions; diagnose new conditions.
• Evaluate need for specialty referrals and review consultation reports for recommendations.
• Order and review laboratory, x-ray, and other diagnostic tests.
• Assist CMO with medical reclassification and non-formulary medication requests.
• Provide routine and emergency medical care to inmate patients.
• Examine, diagnose and treat patients within scope of practice per Ohio Board.
• Conduct rounds on infirmary patients as directed by CMO.
• Document medical information and treatment plans per guidelines.
