Job summary

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) seeks a Registered Nurse to provide psychiatric nursing care at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, OH. You will plan care, assess patients, and work on a multi-disciplinary team to support mental health needs.

You will deliver crisis intervention, medication education, and evidence-based nursing care while documenting progress and coordinating treatment plans with physicians and CNS staff.

Qualifications

• RN license in Ohio in good standing.
• Experience in psychiatric/behavioral health nursing preferred.
• Ability to document and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Plan psychiatric care based on assessment findings and patient needs.
• Write measurable goals and plan interventions for patients.
• Serve on a multidisciplinary mental health team providing psychiatric nursing services.
• Provide crisis intervention when needed.
• Complete psychiatric nursing assessments and participate in treatment plans.
• Conduct medication education and participate in related groups.
• Implement precautions for suicide/escape and manage safety orders.
• Observe and evaluate responses to medications and therapies.
• Submit timely reports to psychiatrists and treatment staff.
• Document data on patient records and coordinate appointments.
• Provide direct professional nursing care (vital signs, meds administration).
• Attend meetings and training sessions as directed.
