Job summary

CorrHealth in Albuquerque, NM, seeks a Registered Nurse to provide a full range of nursing services to inmates, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of medical conditions. The RN ensures safety and security within the facility while delivering compassionate care.

You will respond to medical issues, administer treatments, maintain records, and educate patients on health and prevention. Current RN license and experience in correctional healthcare are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the state
• Current and unrestricted license as Registered Nurse, must maintain license
• Experience in correctional healthcare preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

• Assesses and identifies health problems of new inmates and initiates medical records
• Responds to day to day medical issues and emergencies with patients
• Administers prescribed treatments and medications as needed
• Prepares medical equipment, records, and rooms for examinations
• Practices sound pharmacology in preparation, maintenance, administration and documentation
• Maintains IVs for IV therapies, as needed
• Meets with the HSA to review medical services and may act as Charge Nurse
• Is aware of emergency procedures and triage guidelines
• Can give CPR instructions and operate AED
• Uses medical equipment safely (EKG, BP, O2, Glucometer, Doppler, etc.)
• Delegates tasks to lower level staff
• Educates patients on diet, hygiene, and prevention of chronic diseases
