Job summary

CorrHealth is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide a full range of nursing services to inmates in a correctional setting. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation of patient care, and collaboration with the health team to maintain security and safety within the facility.

The ideal candidate will hold an active RN license, have a nursing degree, and be prepared for potential leadership duties such as Charge Nurse in the absence of the health services

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted RN license; must maintain license.
• Graduate of an approved nursing program.
• Experience in correctional healthcare preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assess and identify health problems of inmates and initiate medical records.
• Respond to day-to-day medical issues and emergencies.
• Administer prescribed treatments and medications as needed.
• Prepare equipment and rooms for examinations; assist provider as needed.
• Maintain IVs for therapies and manage IV equipment.
• Collaborate with HSA; may serve as Charge Nurse or Acting Supervisor.
• Follow emergency procedures and triage guidelines.
• Provide CPR instructions and operate AED if trained.
• Use standard medical equipment safely and correctly.
• Educate patients on diet, hygiene, and prevention of chronic diseases.
