PAGNY, employed by The Division of Correctional Health Services (CHS) of NYC Health + Hospitals (H+H), seeks a Mental Health Technician A to support crisis intervention, conduct groups, supervise patients, and assist in behavioral health services across Rikers Island locations.

The role engages with a multidisciplinary team to de-escalate incidents, monitor patients, document activities, and collaborate with DOC staff to ensure safety and quality care in a correctional health setting.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Services or a health-related area; OR
• A High School diploma or a GED and two years of full-time experience in Nursing Behavioral Health or another related field.
• Or any combination of 1 and 2 above.

Responsabilités

• Perform crisis and/or de-escalation interventions, therapeutic observations, conduct groups, patient supervision, and other behavioral health duties.
• Orient patients to unit policies, procedures, rules, and routine schedule.
• Utilize crisis de-escalation practices when necessary to support patients.
• Identify environmental triggers and communicate to the treatment team.
• Perform patient checks/rounds as required.
• Communicate clinical matters to Mental Health/DOC staff and report unusual findings.
• Escort patients to groups and required locations.
• Conduct 1:1 monitoring for behavioral management/modification.
• Participate in clinical training and document group activities.
