Job summary

The Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking a Mental Health Technician to join the Division of Correctional Health Services (CHS) within NYC Health + Hospitals. The role focuses on guiding patients, de-escalation, and coordination with the care team inside the jail system.

Responsibilities include 1:1 monitoring, group activities, and reporting changes to team leaders, with a Sunday-Thursday, 2:00pm-10:00pm shift and union-backed benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in a health-related field or social services.
• High School diploma or GED with relevant nursing behavioral health experience.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Orients patients to unit policies, procedures, rules and schedule.
• Performs 1:1 monitoring of patients for behavioral management.
• Communicates clinical matters to treatment staff and supervisor.
• Responds to patient emergencies and supports unit safety.
• Engages with DOC staff during incidents or contraband situations.
