Job summary

The Staff Nurse II at the University of Illinois Chicago (Rockford location) delivers nursing care in a correctional environment under physician/RN supervision. You will apply the Nursing Process and evidence-based practice to improve patient outcomes, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to support patient wellbeing.

Requirements include Illinois RN licensure, 1 year RN experience, current BLS/CPR, effective communication, and basic EHR skills.

Qualifications

• Illinois RN license in good standing required.
• Minimum 1 year RN experience in a clinical setting.
• Current BLS/CPR and unit-specific certifications as required.
• Effective oral and written communication with patients and staff.
• Proficient computer skills and EHR familiarity.
• Excellent attendance and dependable work history.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in a correctional health setting as directed.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using Nursing Process.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure patient wellbeing.
• Administer medications and monitor responses per policy.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient status and care.
• Communicate with providers and guardians as needed.
• Respond to emergencies promptly and professionally.
