Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is seeking a Corrections Medication Aide trainee to assist in the Unit Medication Room operations and dispense medications from filled prescriptions. This on-the-job training position is contingent upon successful completion of the CMA program and attainment of CMA certification/permit from the Texas licensing authority.

Trainees perform duties within the health care department as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalent.
• EMT-P credential from Texas DHS or CMA training with state exam.

Responsibilities

• Assist in operation of the Unit Medication Room and distribute medications from filled prescriptions.
• On-the-job training position for the CMA Training Program; duties during Trainee period within scope of the role.
• Applicants will be considered for either a Correctional Medication Aide or Trainee level based on education, experience, and skills.

Education

Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalent

EMT-P with current credential from the Texas Department of State Health Services, OR CMA training and passage of State exam
