Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) is seeking a motivated individual to join the Correctional Managed Care nursing team, providing administrative and clinical support to transition from student to employee as a certified correctional medication aide.

You will participate in online courses (140 hours), on-site training, and clinical activities, while learning data entry, patient care, privacy, and safety in a prison/jail setting under the nurse manager.

Qualifications

• Vocational training or equivalent required.
• Analytical and interpersonal skills required.

Responsibilities

• Attends online medication aide college courses (140 hours).
• Completes course work and clinical activities (daily mix of online and on-site).
• Operates PCs to enter data, generate reports, and draft routine correspondence.
• Performs administrative tasks: filing, mail, faxing, typing.
• Answers phone calls and triages appropriately.
• Assists with patient activities and maintains care areas as per plan.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality of information.
• May work at more than one facility and be on standby for extended or alternate shifts.
• Exposed to occupational hazards; adheres to safety protocols.
