Job summary

UTMB Health seeks a Licensed Vocational Nurse to provide direct nursing care in a correctional setting in Texas. You will assess patients, implement nursing plans, and participate in ongoing evaluation to adjust care under supervision.

Admission, discharge, and transfer duties are performed as part of daily responsibilities. You will administer medications, document care, and ensure privacy and infection control standards.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent.
• Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program and current Texas LVN license.
• No experience required.
• Current BLS-HP required.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct nursing care to assigned patients.
• Participates in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the nursing care.
• Performs admission, discharge, and transfer procedures.
• Reviews and, under supervision, modifies the plan of care.
• Delivers designated nursing interventions per the medical plan of care.
• Notifies staff of changes in patient status and coordinates with the care team.
• Follows physician's orders and maintains patient privacy and records.
• Administers medications and treatments safely.
• Assembles equipment and supplies for procedures and supports others.
• Adheres to infection control and aseptic techniques.
• Documents nursing care in patient records.
