Job summary

County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Sheriff's Correctional Deputy Cadet - Unclassified to enter the 13-week Adult Correctional Academy training program and become a trainee. The role involves maintaining order and security of inmates, and transporting to court and medical facilities under supervision.

Candidates must meet standard employment requirements, pass an agility test, and may progress to sworn Deputy after graduation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required at time of application.
• Must be at least 21 years old by appointment.
• Valid California Driver's License before appointment.
• Never convicted of a felony; felonies disqualifying.
• Legal right to work in the United States.
• Must pass medical examination.
• Must pass background check including fingerprints.
• CPR/First-aid certification required.

Responsibilities

• Enter training to join Sheriff's Correctional Deputies.
• Maintain order and security of inmates in detention facilities.
• Transport from facilities to court, medical facilities, and other locations.
• Supervise inmates on work projects countywide.
• Pass agility examination prior to appointment.
