Job summary

Qualifications

• Education and Experience requirements at Level I include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Level II requires a bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience; master’s degree may substitute for one year.
• Level III requires a bachelor’s degree and three years of specialized experience in correctional settings.

Responsibilities

• Use interview techniques and assessment instruments to determine offenders’ security risks and programmatic needs.
• Review offender work and conduct records to assess progress and classification needs.
• Advise offenders on personal problems, employment resources, and educational needs.
• Deliver programs to assist re-entry into the community.
• Prepare parole summaries or presentence investigation reports as needed.
• Handle incoming/outgoing mail for offenders.
• Develop and monitor offender transition plans in line with re-entry programs.
