The Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking an experienced Corrections Supervisor to serve as assistant to the Chief of Custody in an adult facility. You will help manage daily operations, oversee inspections, and support disciplinary and classification processes.

Key responsibilities include coordinating inspections, preparing reports, and standing in for senior staff during emergencies, with a commitment to rehabilitation and safety within the facility.

Qualifikationen

• Four or more years of experience in the custody of adult criminal offenders in a city, county, state, or federal facility,
• one year must have been as a Correctional Lieutenant with the Missouri Department of Corrections
• possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency

Aufgaben

• Conducts inspections to ensure that Correctional Officers are on duty and attentive to their duties; maintains records of Correctional Officer’s performance/work habits
• Discusses minor adjustment problems with offenders; refers serious problems to the proper facility staff specialists; promotes rehabilitation by attempting to modify offender’s social attitudes
• Assumes responsibility for the operation of the facility in the absence of higher-ranking officers; assumes command during emergencies
• Participates on the facility offender disciplinary committee; investigates reported infractions of rules and regulations by offenders or employees
• Serves as a member of the facility classification committee; interviews new offenders, assists in their assignment; maintains records; prepares, or supervises the preparation of reports
• Directs inspections and searches of offenders, their living quarters, and other areas of the correctional facility
• Exercises considerable discretion in the performance of daily tasks and in emergency situations; work is reviewed by inspections and reports; conducts training sessions for corrections personnel
