The State of North Carolina Department of Adult Correction seeks a Correctional Behavioral Specialist I to administer and interpret psychological tests for offenders, provide counseling to support progress, and coordinate with diagnostic and treatment staff. This 40-hour per week, full-time role is based at Alexander Correctional Institution in Taylorsville, NC.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s in psychology or related field, with experience in diagnostic testing and crisis intervention.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field with psychology coursework.
• One year administering and/or conducting psychological testing.
• Experience with crisis intervention and counseling techniques.
• Ability to assess and interpret diagnostic tests for offenders.

Responsabilités

• Administer, score, and supervise psychological tests for offenders.
• Counsel offenders to establish rapport and valid test results.
• Gather social, criminal, and mental health background for interpretation.
• Prepare reports and liaise with diagnostic and treatment staff.
