Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) is seeking a Corr Medication Aide to assist in the Unit Medication Room at the Wichita Falls Allred Unit. The role involves distributing medications from filled prescriptions and coordinating with patients to ensure timely, accurate administration under nurse management.

Applicants must have EMT-P credentials or complete a certified medication aide program.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED and EMT-P with current credential from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
  • OR Successful completion of a certified medication aide training course and passage of State exam.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with patients to deliver and administer medications as ordered and prescribed by providers.
  • Follows compliance and departmental standards to ensure patients’ safety is prioritized.
  • Ensures physical control of medications is always within department standards.
  • Documents activities in patients’ health records and medication administration systems.
  • Supports clinical activities in the health facility under the direction of the facility director and nurse management.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned within the duties of the job classification.

Visa Information

TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by‑case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change‑of‑status or change‑of‑employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.

Position Description

This position assists in the overall operation of the Unit Medication Room and distributes clients medications from filled prescriptions.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Coordinates with patients to deliver and administer medications as ordered and prescribed by providers.
  • Follows compliance and departmental standards to ensure patients’ safety is prioritized.
  • Ensures physical control of medications is always within department standards.
  • Clearly, concisely, and timely documents activities in patients’ health records and medication administration systems.
  • Within the scope of the specific credentials of the team member, the team member will support clinical activities in the health facility under the direction of the facility director and nurse management.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in the job classification and/or position description.

Applicants will be considered for either a Correctional Medication Aide or Correctional Medication Aide Trainee level position based on education, experience, and skills.

Required Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalent and Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) with current credential from the Texas Department of State Health Services, OR Successful completion of a certified medication aide training course and passage of State exam.
