Job summary

Border States Industries, Inc. is seeking a Corporate Intern in Fargo, ND to gain hands-on experience within the IT Data and Analytics team. You will work on real-world projects, including data support, reporting, and process improvement, under guidance from department leaders.

You'll build relationships, participate in enterprise reporting activities, and gain insights into master data management and BI tools while developing your career in a growing, employee-owned company.

Qualifications

• Current student or recent graduate within the last year in a 2- or 4-year degree program.
• Strong knowledge of business office procedures and data handling skills.
• Proficiency with PC for Windows and Microsoft Office 365 applications.

Job Summary

The Corporate Intern will develop a solid understanding of the department they are in as well as the overall business. The internship aims to provide our interns with challenging, real-world projects specific to their career path. Works within the department on day-to-day projects; projects will include but are not limited to activities related to process improvement, project management, data support, reporting, documentation, and other assigned responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Works within the department on day-to-day projects,which include but are not limited to activities related to process improvement, project management, data support, reporting, documentation, and other assigned responsibilities.
• Builds relationships through meetings, events, and one-on-ones with various employee-owners and leaders.
• Focuses on real-world projects within the department.
• Collaborates with various departments throughout the company.

Department Responsibilities

• Works as part of the IT Data and Analytics team by supporting business intelligence and master data management functions that drive enterprise-wide business processes, reporting, and decisions.
• Gains experience working with large quantities of raw and unorganized data using a variety of tools and technologies, including Stibo, SAP (ERP, Information Steward, Data Services, etc.), and Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access, Power BI, SharePoint, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Collaborates with business intelligence analysts and developers to support their enterprise reporting activities, which include requirements gathering; prototyping; development of data models, reports, dashboards, and visualizations; testing; and training.
• Aids in master data management initiatives to support enterprise-wide activities, which include developing master data definitions, standards, and business rules; leading data cleansing efforts across business units; creating and implementing data quality governance and lifecycle management policies and procedures; and generating master data quality metrics, dashboards, and tracking.

Qualifications

• Current student or new graduate (within last year) in a 2 or 4-year degree program.
• Strong knowledge of business office procedures, office equipment operation, data entry/keyboarding skills, and communication systems helpful.
• Requires strong knowledge of PC for Windows and Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and OneNote).
