Citizens is seeking a Finance and Accounting Intern in Johnston, RI to work on financial reporting and analysis while applying academic knowledge to real business challenges. You may join in Business Unit Finance or Corporate Accounting.

The internship begins June 1, 2027, offers a hybrid work model, and pays $27 per hour. Applicants must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics with a 3.5 GPA and expected graduation in May 2028.

Responsibilities

• Provide analytical support for daily/monthly/quarterly reporting processes.
• Provide detailed analysis of critical areas including research and reporting.
• Participate in a final capstone project with peers and present findings to senior Finance leaders.
• Assist in recurring management reporting, consolidation, and analysis for review with senior management; participate in month-end close/forecast preparation.
• Ad hoc and additional assignments across various divisions and finance teams.

Citizens internship programs give you the chance to work on a variety of critical business assignments that will test your skills and use your academic knowledge to match your interests to a real job.

As a Finance or Accounting Intern you will have the opportunity to participate in finance activities while improving your reporting and analysis skills as well as enhancing your knowledge of basic finance and accounting principles. You will be placed in one of the following accounting-related areas for the summer: Business Unit Finance (Consumer, Commercial, Enterprise),or Corporate Accounting.

NOTE: THIS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM BEGINS June 1, 2027 and is based in Johnston, RI

As a Finance & Accounting intern you can expect to:

• Provide analytical support for the daily/ monthly / quarterly reporting process.
• Provide detailed analysis of critical areas including research and reporting
• Participate in a final capstone project, collaborating with peers to solve a real business challenge and present findings to senior Finance leaders
• Assist in recurring management reporting preparation, consolidation, and analysis for review with senior management. Participate in month-end close/ forecast preparation and related control functions.
• Ad hoc and additional assignments across various divisions and finance teams.

Qualifications

• Fully proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly excel.
• Strong written and oral presentation skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Successfully complete a video interview assessment within 4 days of receiving the link. If not completed within the timeframe, your application will be automatically withdrawn from consideration.

Education
