Job summary

Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) is seeking a business-minded Corporate Counsel in Columbus, Ohio to serve as a trusted legal advisor across the organization. You will negotiate sophisticated commercial and technology agreements, provide practical guidance on AI and emerging technologies, and partner with leaders to balance risk and enable innovation.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school is required.
• Active license and good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Minimum five years of relevant legal experience in law firm or corporate setting.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements.

Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate, and advise on commercial and technology agreements including SaaS, data licensing, IP, procurement, and partnerships.
• Advise on AI and emerging technologies, including risk assessment and contractual controls.
• Provide practical legal guidance to Technology, Product Development, Content, Sales, and Marketing teams.
• Support a sales organization serving the Americas, EMEA, and APAC.
• Partner with leaders to structure transactions and manage risk across initiatives.
• Independently manage complex matters from negotiation to execution and ongoing support.
