Qualifications

• J.D. required from an accredited law school.
• Member in good standing of a U.S. State Bar with ability to practice in Connecticut or eligible for in-house counsel.
• 4–6 years of experience as Legal Counsel (in-house preferred).
• Specialized knowledge of supply chain, R&D & Quality and related technical matters.

Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate a high volume of complex contracts across supply chain, real estate, quality, HR, R&D and finance.
• Be the legal partner to Supply Chain operations; support all phases from planning to distribution.
• Manage the contract library/databases, upload templates and respond to stakeholder inquiries.
• Provide legal insight to international stakeholders on US contract negotiations and post‑contract topics.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to identify risks and offer holistic solutions.
• Train colleagues on policies and track compliance trainings; monitor laws and regulations.

Your Tasks

Contracts and Contract Database Management

• Manage legal topics arising from or related to supply chain, contract manufacturing, logistics, quality, and operations
• Provide legal insight and support to international stakeholders/project managers on US contract negotiations and post contract execution topics, especially with manufacturing matters
• Coordinate with and advise cross functional teams on legal considerations and potential risks
• Advise and collaborate with cross-function stakeholders, including business managers, to identify and resolve business and legal issues and provide ongoing counsel, advice, and support
• Draft and negotiate a high volume of complex contracts including but not limited to supply chain, real estate, quality, human resources, R&D, finance, etc.
• Manage the contract library and any applicable contract databases, including uploading and tracking of documents, templates, stakeholder inquiries

Operational Responsibilities

• Be the legal contact and business partner to the Supply Chain operational teams and functions
• Support supply chain legal topics on all phases of the planning, production, importation, transportation, scrapping and the customer distribution cycle
• Work closely with Quality and R&D; respond to inquiries on stability, storage, and raw material topics, innovation and project initiatives as needed

Compliance and Legal Department Management Responsibilities

• Manage company compliance program and localize global policies/materials
• Closely collaborate with Beiersdorf HQ’s legal & compliance teams on compliance matters
• Train colleagues on legal and company policies, and track and report such compliance trainings (tracking numbers/ dates/ system entries)
• Keep up to date and inform the key stakeholders on compliance laws, regulations, case rulings, and changes that impact the business/ industry
• Manage department SOPs and other operational documents with cross functional departments
• Assist with audits and other risk management initiatives
• Liaise with external lawyers and manage legal budget in collaboration with finance department
• Track legal costs, invoices, purchase orders etc. for the legal department
• Assist with other matters and provide coverage for North America Legal department as needed
• Supervise law clerks, temporary staff, interns, and other staff as needed
• Manage externship recruiting and partnership with local law schools as needed

Your Profile

• Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) from an accredited law school/university required
• A member, in good standing of a U.S. State Bar with the ability to practice law in Connecticut or eligible for the Connecticut In-House Counsel Bar
• 4-6 years of experience as Legal Counsel (preferably as in-house counsel)
• Specialized knowledge of supply chain operations, R&D & Quality and other technical matters.
• Demonstrated ability to advise business stakeholders
• Ability to spot legal issues across subject areas and facilitate conversations with the right subject matter experts to ensure the delivery of holistic, business minded solution
• Experience with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex contracts
• Knowledge and experience of North American legal system, rules and regulations
• Consumer products or in-house counsel experience strongly preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Strong, clear, concise communication skills
• Ability to communicate to internal clients at all levels of the organization
• Collaborative, positive, pro-active, solution-oriented approach
• Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
• Strong attention to detail, responsive and well organize
• Able to perform administrative takes as needed
• The ability to travel domestically and internationally (<25%)
