Qualifications

• Experience with private-equity-owned companies and ERP systems.
• Proven track record of improving close cycles and automating processes.
• Strong US GAAP knowledge including ASC 606 and ASC 842.
• Advanced Excel skills and external audit management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-, quarter-, and year-end close across entities, ensuring GAAP-compliant statements.
• Manage AP, AR, payroll and general ledger; build a scalable internal control environment.
• Drive ERP implementation and automation to speed reporting.
• Oversee consolidations, cash reporting, and budgeting with operations.
• Support acquisitions from due diligence through purchase accounting and integration.
• Prepare consolidated financial reporting for leadership and PE owners.
• Lead annual audits and coordinate lender/tax/regulatory requests.
• Write accounting policies and maintain controls documentation.

Corporate Controller

Nashville, TN area | Hybrid

The Opportunity

A growing private-equity-backed healthcare services company is hiring a hands-on Controller. The company operates across several states and entities. The Controller reports to the CFO and will run day-to-day accounting: the close, financial reporting, revenue recognition, internal controls, audits and cash reporting. The company is also preparing for a major ERP implementation, and this person will help lead it.

This role fits a leader who can think strategically and still work in the details. You'll build a small team and put processes in place that scale as the business grows.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close across multiple entities, delivering accurate GAAP financial statements.
• Shorten the close timeline and keep it efficient.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations and supporting schedules, and keep the general ledger audit-ready.
• Manage and grow a small accounting team covering AP, AR, payroll and general accounting.
• Design approval workflows, purchasing controls and payment processes.
• Find ways to automate manual work and speed up reporting.
• Oversee fixed assets and lease accounting under ASC 842.
• Produce consolidated reporting across entities and states.
• Prepare cash forecasts, and support the CFO on liquidity and planning.
• Lead the annual budget alongside operations leaders.
• Build monthly reporting packages for leadership and the company's private equity owners.
• Run the annual audit and support lender, tax and regulatory requests.
• Write, document and enforce accounting policies and controls.
• Support acquisitions, from due diligence through purchase accounting and integration.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred
• Several years of recent Controller experience
• Background in public accounting, ideally at a national or Big Four firm
• Experience with multi-entity, multi-state consolidations
• Experience working for a private-equity-backed company
• Hands-on experience with a software implementation
• A track record of improving the close and automating accounting processes
• Strong command of US GAAP (ASC 606, ASC 842, business combinations)
• Advanced Excel skills and experience managing an external audit

Compensation

Competitive base salary plus an annual bonus.
