• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting; CPA strongly preferred.

SHR Talent is partnering with a high-growth, multi-site healthcare organization in Nashville to identify a Controller. This is a highly visible leadership opportunity responsible for overseeing a large, multi-layered accounting organization within a complex and rapidly growing business.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this individual will work closely with executive leadership, operational leaders, FP&A, strategic finance, and business development.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical accounting expertise with exceptional leadership and relationship-management skills. This role requires someone who can operate strategically while remaining close enough to the details to drive accountability, improve processes, and successfully lead through continued growth and change.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a large, multi-layered accounting organization, including senior-level accounting leaders and their respective teams.
• Oversee accounting and financial reporting across a complex, multi-entity organization.
• Lead the monthly close process and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to the CFO and broader executive leadership team.
• Build, develop, and mentor accounting leadership while establishing clear expectations and accountability throughout the organization.
• Partner with operational and business leaders to address financial and accounting matters.
• Collaborate with accounting, FP&A, strategic finance, operations, and business development to support organizational growth.
• Lead accounting activities associated with acquisitions and integrations.
• Drive standardization, automation, and scalability across accounting processes and reporting.
• Develop and maintain appropriate accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and balance sheet reconciliation processes.
• Partner with finance leadership on complex and technical accounting matters.
• Support acquisition evaluation, opening balance sheet assessments, and acquisition accounting.
• Participate in ERP and financial systems optimization and integration initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, consistency, and scalability of the accounting function.

Candidate Profile

• 15+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience with significant leadership responsibility.
• Demonstrated experience leading large, multi-layered accounting teams through periods of growth and change.
• Strong command of U.S. GAAP and experience addressing complex accounting matters.
• Experience within a multi-entity, decentralized, or highly complex operating environment strongly preferred.
• Healthcare experience preferred but not required.
• Prior Big Four or large regional public accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, and rapidly growing organizations highly desirable.
• Strong executive presence with the ability to build credibility across all levels of an organization.
• Proven ability to develop leaders, delegate effectively, and create accountability across a sizable organization.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting required.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• ERP implementation or optimization experience preferred.
