Job description

CBIZ Talent Solutions is assisting our client in their search for a Corporate Controller.

This is a remote position in EST Time Zone.

Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and high caliber Corporate Controller to support the hyper growth being driven by a private equity backed platform of market leading roofing contractors. This role will support the Vice President, Finance to handle all M&A post-close purchase accounting workstreams as well as the integration of newly acquired brands into the platform. In addition, this team member will also facilitate general accounting, accounts payable, payroll, financial reporting, and other related responsibilities at the corporate level.

Responsibilities

General Accounting

• Partner with the brand Controllers to provide appropriate guidance and direction around proper accounting processes to promote accuracy and consistency
• Execute the month end close process for corporate books to ensure that financial statements are accurate, complete and timely
• Generate monthly and quarterly consolidated financial reporting for the platform to provide both corporate and brand leadership teams with insights into financial performance
• Lead the external audit process by partnering with local brand teams to collect and provide all required documentation to the external audit firm
• Support corporate income and sales tax requirements across the platform, working closely with our external tax firm to maintain compliance with all federal and state deadlines and regulations
• Process payroll for corporate employees while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations – assisting with employee benefits and 401k plan administration where required
• Document accounting policies and provide guidance to local accounting teams on best practices for operating within the guidelines of GAAP

Purchase Accounting

• Partner with the deal team to understand financial due diligence considerations ahead of closing on new brands
• Coordinate with our external accounting firm to facilitate post-acquisition workstreams related to transaction cost analysis, valuation, 1060 allocation and opening balance sheet
• Record financial data in the general ledger and coordinate with local brand teams to leverage for proper go-forward transaction recording

Integration Workstreams

• Drive adoption of platform finance technology at newly acquired brands to achieve consistency and efficiency
• Collaborate with platform and brand cross-functional stakeholders to align system functionality with the specific needs of each business
• Train end users on how to properly use the systems to ease the disruption to operations and promote a positive experience around the associated change management
• Enable a smooth transition to platform employee benefits and retirement plans for employees of each acquired brand

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in accounting
• CPA required
• 7-12 years of relevant experience, including public accounting
• Expertise in GAAP accounting with the ability to direct, advise and articulate the underlying principles
• Exposure to private equity and demonstrated success operating in a fast paced, high growth environment
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, Ramp, Paylocity, JPMorgan, Bill.com)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with attention to detail and time management
• This role will require occasional travel up to 25% of the time

Compensation is between $170-$180K + 15% bonus.
