Job Description

Recruiting a Controller: The Controller will oversee all finance, accounting, and reporting activities. They will support presentations to the board of finance and audit committee, ensure systems and procedures support effective program implementation, and conduct flawless audits. The Controller will collaborate with program leaders and staff to explore how finance can support operations. They will partner with the CFO, senior leadership, HR, and IT staff to enhance and integrate finance, HR, and IT functions.

Requirements and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, with five or more years of related controller experience. CPA or CMA designation preferred. Proficiency with Sage accounting software, including bookkeeping, invoicing, and cash flow management, is essential.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintain documented accounting policies and procedures; implement controls to minimize risks.
2. Oversee accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulations.
3. Maintain internal controls over revenue, costs, and budgets.
4. Produce periodic financial reports in accordance with GAAP or IFRS.
5. Analyze financial data, present reports timely, and keep leadership informed of financial status.
6. Support the CFO in engaging the board’s audit and finance committees.
7. Prepare annual budgets and forecasts; report significant variances.
8. Provide financial analysis on capital investments, pricing, and contracts.
9. Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits.
10. File quarterly and annual reports with the SEC.
11. Ensure compliance with governmental requirements.
12. Oversee financial, project, program, and grant accounting, ensuring expenditures align with budgets and reporting requirements.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience: Solid experience in audit coordination, reporting, budgeting, accounts receivable/payable, general ledger, payroll, and investment accounting. Technology savvy with experience in software selection, vendor management, and advanced accounting software proficiency. Experience with tax software is also required.
