Job summary

Janney Montgomery Scott LLC in the United States seeks a Corporate Actions Associate to support accurate and timely processing of corporate action events across domestic and international securities.

You will collaborate with trading, settlements, client service, compliance, and technology, perform reconciliations, resolve discrepancies, and ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment. A Bachelor's degree and 1–3 years in securities ops are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or related field; equivalent work experience accepted.
• 1–3 years of experience in securities operations or corporate actions preferred.
• Basic understanding of equity and fixed income securities and securities processing.
• Experience with custody/processing platforms (DTCC/JPM/BNY) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process and review corporate action events for domestic and international securities.

• Perform daily reconciliations and research discrepancies to resolve issues.

Job description

The Corporate Actions Associate is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of corporate action events across a range of financial instruments. This individual reviews and processes voluntary and mandatory corporate actions, including dividends, mergers, spin-offs, tender offers, rights offerings, income, redemption and call events, class actions, and proxies. The Associate works with internal teams, depositories, custodians, agents, and other external parties to obtain and validate event information, process transactions, reconcile activity, and resolve discrepancies. The role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, risk awareness, and the ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines in a fast-paced operations environment.

What you are good at:

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with trading, settlements, client service, compliance, technology, and other Operations teams to research and resolve corporate action-related issues.
• Operational Support: Assist with maintaining procedures, documentation, and operational controls. Identify processing issues or potential risks and escal​ate them appropriately.
• Team Support & Development: Participate in team initiatives, knowledge sharing, cross-training, and activities designed to support accurate and efficient processing while developing knowledge of corporate action event types, securities processing, applicable systems, and industry practices.

Responsibilities:

• Process Corporate Actions: Review and process corporate action events, including dividends, mergers, spin-offs, tender offers, rights offerings, income and redemption events, class actions, and proxies for domestic and international securities. Ensure transactions are processed accurately and within established deadlines and procedures.
• Event Notification & Research: Review corporate action announcements received from depositories, custodians, agents, and data providers. Validate event details and assist with the timely and accurate dissemination of information to appropriate internal stakeholders.
• Reconciliation & Controls: Perform daily reconciliations between internal records and external sources. Research discrepancies, take appropriate corrective action within established procedures, and escal​ate unresolved or higher‑risk items to senior associates or management.
• Break Resolution: Research and assist in resolving position, entitlement, and cash breaks associated with corporate action events across internal and external systems. Escalate complex or unresolved issues as appropriate.
• Client Instructions: For voluntary corporate action events, monitor deadlines, receive and track client instructions, and accurately process elections in accordance with event terms and established procedures.

What you have:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 1-3 years of experience in securities operations, financial services operations, corporate actions, or a related field preferred.
• Basic understanding of equity and fixed income securities and securities processing preferred.
• Experience with DTCC, JPM, BNY or similar custody and processing platforms is a plus.

Certifications:

• Series 99 and Securities Industry Essentials must be obtained within 120 days of start date

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.
• Knowledge of reconciliation or workflow tools is a plus.
