Job summary

The Shad Group in Phoenix, AZ seeks an Accounting Manager to lead daily financial operations, own the month-end close, and drive process improvements with a 4-5 person AP/AR team.

Reporting to the CFO, you will optimize the new Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central ERP, deliver executive-facing financial visibility, and guide the finance function through growth while maintaining a hybrid work model (3 days in office, 2 remote).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 5+ years progressive accounting experience.
• Proven leadership of AP/AR staff and accounting ops.
• Hybrid work schedule with 3 days in-office and 2 days remote.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting functions, close the books monthly, reconcile balance sheets and bank accounts.
• Lead financial reporting and analysis for CFO; prepare statements and ad-hoc analysis.
• Facilitate external audit preparation and coordinate with outside CPA partners.

Job description

The Accounting Manager will lead daily financial operations and drive process enhancements. Reporting directly to the CFO, this individual takes ownership of the month-end close, financial reporting, and operational insights, while managing a dedicated team of 4-5 AP and AR/Billing professionals. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced accounting leader to build best practices, optimize a newly implemented ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central), and deliver key financial visibility to executive leadership.

Responsibilities

• Financial Operations & Close: Oversee daily accounting functions, perform accrual accounting, execute journal entries, manage balance sheet and bank reconciliations, and drive the month-end close process.
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly financial statements, deliver regular reports to the CFO, and lead ad-hoc financial analysis to support operational decision-making.
• Audit & Compliance: Facilitate annual external audit preparation and partner with outside CPA partners.

Qualifications

• Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience is required.
• Leadership Experience: Proven track record managing AP/AR personnel and supervising accounting operations.
• Company Scale Experience: Prior accounting background in mid-sized, growth-oriented companies ($40M-$100M revenue) highly preferred.
• Hybrid Work Schedule: Standard schedule is 3 days in-office and 2 days remote. (To foster strong team alignment and onboarding, the initial 90 days will require 4-5 days onsite).
