Reporting to the CFO, you will manage a small team and drive process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities and support audit preparations to ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage account reconciliations, including bank and intercompany accounts, to maintain accurate ledger balances.
- Coordinate the submission of sales and use tax filings across multiple states, ensuring timely compliance with tax regulations.
- Assist with financial reporting and cash flow management to support effective decision‑making.
- Maintain fixed assets accounting and oversee lease tracking, reconciliation, and related activities.
- Collaborate with external auditors, tax agencies, and regulatory bodies to facilitate audits and reporting.
- Ensure organized financial records and strengthen internal controls to mitigate risks.
- Drive continuous improvements in internal accounting procedures and workflows.
- Supervise and support the accounting staff, delegating tasks and providing mentorship.
- Serve as payroll backup to assist the HR department when needed.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience within a professional setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close procedures.
- Experience with sales and use tax compliance preferred, especially across multiple states.
- Experience with project, construction, or manufacturing accounting is a plus.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and external partners.
- Self-starter with a positive attitude and strong attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced MS Excel skills, with experience in MS Access.
- ERP software experience required.
