Addison Group is partnering with a multibillion-dollar, publicly traded industry leader to identify an Accounting Manager to join their corporate accounting team in Chicago. This is a highly visible role blending corporate accounting, financial reporting, and team leadership within a large, complex organization.

The position is hybrid in Chicago (3 days in office) and oversees two direct reports, collaborating with Accounting, Finance, and other business units.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• 7+ years of accounting experience in public accounting or a large corporate environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and SOX compliance.
• CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial statement reviews, and variance analysis.
• Manage and review accounting allocations across multiple business units.
• Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with GAAP, SOX, and internal controls.
• Lead, mentor, and develop two direct reports while overseeing day-to-day accounting activities.
• Drive process improvements and automation initiatives.

This is a highly visible opportunity offering a mix of corporate accounting, financial reporting, and team leadership responsibilities within a large, complex organization. The role will oversee two direct reports and work closely with Accounting, Finance, and other business units across the company. Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – 3 days in office)

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statement reviews, and variance analysis
• Manage and review accounting allocations across multiple business units
• Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with GAAP, SOX, and internal controls
• Research accounting issues, investigate variances, and identify opportunities for process improvements
• Partner cross-functionally with Accounting, Finance, and other teams to support reporting, forecasting, and regulatory requests
• Support internal and external audits, including preparation of financial analyses and supporting documentation
• Lead, mentor, and develop two direct reports while overseeing day-to-day accounting activities
• Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and special projects

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• 7+ years of accounting experience within public accounting or a large corporate environment
• Strong understanding of GAAP, SOX compliance, and monthly/quarterly close processes
• Experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statement analysis, and variance analysis
• Prior experience reviewing work, mentoring staff, or managing employees
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
• CPA preferred
