Aboutthe Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented and client-focused Senior Accountant to join a growing accounting team supporting a diverse portfolio of small and mid-sized businesses. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of core accounting functions across multiple client engagements while serving as a trusted resource for financial reporting, analysis, and day-to-day accounting needs.
The ideal candidate is comfortable managing competing priorities, working independently, and building strong relationships with clients. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a hands-on role, takes pride in producing accurate financial information, and is motivated to improve processes and deliver meaningful value to the businesses they support.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle accounting activities for multiple client accounts, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Coordinate month-end and year-end close processes, maintaining organized records and meeting established reporting deadlines.
- Analyze financial results, identify unusual fluctuations, and investigate discrepancies to ensure reliable reporting.
- Support cash flow projections, budgeting activities, and other financial analyses to help clients make informed business decisions.
- Serve as a primary accounting contact for assigned clients, addressing questions, communicating financial findings, and providing responsive ongoing support.
- Maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable tax and regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows, improve reporting accuracy, and strengthen internal controls.
- Collaborate with colleagues and client stakeholders to resolve accounting issues, prioritize deliverables, and maintain consistent service quality.
- Manage multiple engagements simultaneously while balancing client needs, deadlines, and evolving priorities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Several years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for general ledger activities, financial reporting, reconciliations, and close processes.
- Experience in public accounting, outsourced accounting services, or a small- to mid-sized business environment is strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and the ability to apply accounting principles to practical business situations.
- Proficiency with accounting software, general ledger platforms, and spreadsheet tools; experience learning and navigating multiple systems is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including experience researching discrepancies and explaining financial variances.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple clients, projects, and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information into clear, actionable insights for non-accounting audiences.
- A proactive, service-oriented mindset and a commitment to accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- CPA certification or progress toward the CPA credential is preferred.
