Job summary

UNC Health Nash is seeking a Core Lab Coordinator to prepare, log, sort, and deliver specimens to the appropriate lab testing area, while handling data entry duties. This role involves more complex processing such as Microbiology, Cytology, and send-outs, with access in the lab information system as needed.

The position requires an Associate Degree in a science-related field, phlebotomy registry eligibility, and may prefer specialty certification.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in a Science related field is required.
• Registry (or eligibility) as a phlebotomist or science field is required.
• Specialty Certification preferred.
• 1 year of health care experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates phlebotomy communications for day to day.
• Performs add-ons for Chemistry.
• Coordinates the reference lab send-out area.
• Specimen processing and handling.
• Collaborates with staff, physicians, and external representatives to facilitate actions.
• Performs other duties as requested.
• Operates and maintains departmental equipment and workspace.
• Performs laboratory tests and procedures as required.
