Job summary

UNC Health Nash is seeking a Core Lab Coordinator to prepare, log, sort, and deliver specimens with data entry responsibilities and more complex processing in the Core Lab.

The role is part-time (24 hours weekly), onsite, with responsibilities spanning chemistry add-ons, reference lab send-outs, and close collaboration with healthcare teams to ensure timely, accurate results.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in a Science related field
• Registry (or eligibility) as a phlebotomist or Science related field
• Specialty Certification preferred
• 1 year of health care experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates phlebotomy communications for day to day
• Performs add-on's for Chemistry
• Coordinates the send out area for reference lab testing
• Specimen processing
• Collaborates and communicates with departmental and system-wide staff, supervisory and management personnel, physicians, patients, and with various outside referral representatives to facilitate timely and effective actions and decisions.
• Performs other duties as requested
• Operates and/or maintains departmental equipment and work areas
• Performs laboratory tests and procedures as required

Summary

Prepares, logs, sorts, and/or delivers specimens to appropriate lab testing area. Performs data entry responsibilities. The Core Lab Coordinator is involved in more complex processing which could include, but not limited to Microbiology processing, frozen splits, send-outs, Cytology processing, etc. Specific functions will require additional access in the laboratory computer system.
