Job summary

UNC Health Nash is seeking a Core Lab Coordinator to prepare, log, sort, and deliver specimens to the appropriate lab areas and perform data entry. This role involves complex processing including microbiology and cytology tasks, with access to the laboratory computer system as needed.

The position requires an Associate degree in a science-related field, phlebotomy or science-related registry eligibility, and at least 1 year of health care experience. Work is onsite with a 40-hour workweek.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in a Science related field is required or preferred.
• Registry (or eligibility) as a phlebotomist or science-related field is required or preferred.
• Specialty certification is preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 1 year of health care experience is expected.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates phlebotomy communications for day to day operations.
• Performs add-ons for Chemistry under supervision.
• Coordinates the send out area for reference lab testing.
• Performs specimen processing.
• Collaborates with departmental and system-wide staff, physicians, patients, and outside referral representatives to facilitate timely actions.
• Performs other duties as requested.
• Operates and maintains departmental equipment and work areas.
• Performs laboratory tests and procedures as required.

Education
