Job summary

Vultr is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Core Cloud Engineering team and build the OOB control plane that underpins our bare metal fleet. You’ll work close to hardware, writing production Rust (with Go and PHP) and shipping infrastructure relied on daily by other engineers.

You will interact with IPMI/Redfish, DPU provisioning, and BMCs across diverse servers, delivering observable, well-tested services at fleet scale.

Qualifications

Experience writing production systems code in Rust (with Go and PHP in the mix).
Experience with hardware interfaces like IPMI and Redfish, and BMCs.
Able to work with datacenter hardware in production environments.
Contribute to internal SDKs and shared libraries used by other teams.
Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain services that interact with server BMCs over IPMI and Redfish across a heterogeneous hardware fleet.
Develop control-plane tooling for DPU provisioning and lifecycle management.
Implement and harden serial-over-LAN, virtual media, and remote console workloads.
Write Rust services (and Go/PHP where appropriate) that are observable and well-tested.
Collaborate with datacenter operations and hardware vendors to debug firmware and DPU behavior.
Contribute to internal SDKs and shared libraries used by other infra teams.
Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and on-call rotations.
