Job Description: School Cafeteria Worker

Overview: The School Cafeteria Worker plays a vital role in ensuring students receive nutritious, well-balanced meals in a clean and welcoming environment. This position involves food preparation, serving meals, and maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Food Preparation: Prepare and cook meals according to the planned menu and nutritional guidelines. Ensure all food is prepared in a safe and sanitary manner. Follow standardized recipes and portion controls.
• Meal Service: Serve food to students, staff, and visitors in a courteous and efficient manner. Ensure proper portion sizes are adhered to. Handle cashier duties if required, including operating a point-of-sale system.
• Sanitation and Cleanliness: Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas. Maintain cleanliness in the dining area, including wiping tables, emptying trash, and sweeping floors. Follow all safety and health regulations to ensure a safe dining environment.
• Inventory and Supplies: Assist with inventory control and notify the Cafeteria Manager of low stock or supplies. Properly store and label food items to maintain freshness and prevent contamination.
• Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other cafeteria staff to ensure smooth operations. Participate in training sessions and meetings as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous experience in food service or a cafeteria setting is preferred but not required.

Skills and Abilities

• Basic knowledge of food preparation and sanitation.
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
