Position: Copy Editor

We are seeking a detail-oriented Copy Editor with experience in academic book publishing. The ideal candidate will have strong editing skills, a thorough understanding of academic standards, and the ability to enhance manuscripts while preserving the author's voice.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct thorough manuscript reviews, identify inconsistencies, and make corrections with the author’s agreement, ensuring compliance with editorial guidelines and citation styles (e.g., APA, MLA, Chicago).
  2. Maintain high-quality standards throughout the editing process, adhering to deadlines and specifications.
  3. Provide feedback on content organization, flow, charts, graphs, and references.
  4. Contribute to team efforts to improve quality and productivity.
  5. Verify facts, dates, and statistics using reliable sources.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • 2-4 years of copy-editing experience in academic publishing, preferably books.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Familiarity with citation styles and academic publishing standards.
  • Strong understanding of editorial workflows and quality assurance.
  • Excellent spelling, punctuation, grammar, and syntax skills, with the ability to offer constructive feedback.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with pre-editing and copyediting tasks systematically.
  • Experience working in a publishing environment and understanding of book markets.

Location: Remote (CET time zone)
