About the Role

Job Summary

The Coordinator for Student and Resident Development works under the supervision of the Director of Educational Support & Well-Being to ensure that regulatory and accreditation standards are met and that initiatives are implemented in support of the continued growth and success of Medical Education programs. The coordinator supports initiatives to support the physician pipeline by coordinating student programming designed to encourage the pursuit of medical school and other health professions. The coordinator supports programming designed to assist residents in their transition to residency training, development of professional identity and belonging, helping to ensure a positive educational experience to all learners. This is a split-function role with a portion of time dedicated to the scheduling, onboarding and program implementation of student programs, and a portion of time to support programming for the GME residents and fellows. The amount of time spent with students and residents vary according to assigned projects.

  1. Minimum Experience: Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in GME or adult education; six (6) years of administrative support experience in a healthcare system may be considered in lieu of GME or adult education experience.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Resident and Fellows Development
  • a. Work closely with program directors, faculty, coordinators, and residents/fellows to identify areas of need transition to residency and professional identity formation.
  • b. Consult with program directors on individual learning plans, as appropriate
  • c. Assistance/support for medical graduates who face unique challenges relocating for residency training
Students and Medical Learners
  • a. Oversee onboarding for high school, undergraduate and medical students requesting observations with physicians
  • b. Collaborate with other internal stakeholders and departments to support programming for workforce initiatives
  • c. Coordinate student orientation activities for a successful student experience
  • d. Collect data on program effectiveness of student outcomes
  • e. Organize student preceptors and coordinate schedules with preceptors
  • f. Generate evaluation reports for preceptors, students and rotations.
Work with Faculty Development/CME team to develop educational materials on topics that support transition to residency and professional identity formation. This includes programming for residents to treat diverse patient populations (dealing with difficult patients, micro aggressions, bias, etc.)

Work jointly with the GME Wellness coordinator to deliver resources, programming, and events that support positive educational experiences and belonging in residency training
