Job summary

The College of The Albemarle, located on the Elizabeth City Campus in Elizabeth City, NC, seeks a Coordinator for CCR Pathways and Testing to manage High School Equivalency testing, adult education pathways, and related programs.

You will advise students, coordinate testing operations across locations, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with faculty, workforce partners, and state agencies to promote access and success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Education, Adult Education, Counseling, Human Services, Public Administration, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in adult education, workforce development, student services, testing administration, or related environment.
  • Experience interpreting and applying state and federal program requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Adult Secondary Education pathway programs and High School Equivalency testing services.
  • Serve as the College's Chief High School Equivalency Examiner and maintain required certifications.
  • Coordinate testing operations at all approved testing locations.
  • Develop testing schedules and coordinate testing logistics.
  • Order, secure, administer, and return testing materials per vendor requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with NCCCS, GED Testing Service, ETS, and applicable policies.

Coordinator, College and Career Readiness (CCR) Pathways and Testing

The Coordinator, College of The Albemarle's Adult Secondary Education pathways, High School Equivalency (HSE) testing, and College and Career Readiness pathway initiatives. The position is responsible for administering High School Equivalency testing services, coordinating transitional pathway programs, ensuring compliance with North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS), Department of Public Instruction (DPI), GED Testing Service (GEDTS), Educational Testing Service (ETS), and applicable federal and state requirements, and supporting student success through academic advising, pathway development, recruitment, and retention initiatives.

The Coordinator oversees testing operations, pathway programming, student intake and orientation processes, and related reporting while collaborating with faculty, Student Success and Enrollment Management, Workforce Development, community partners, and state agencies to promote educational access and successful student outcomes.

The Coordinator receives direct supervision from the Director, College and Career Readiness and general supervision from the Dean, Public Services and Community Enrichment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (40%)
  • College and Career Readiness Program Administration

  • Coordinate Adult Secondary Education pathway programs and High School Equivalency testing services.

  • Serve as the College's Chief High School Equivalency Examiner and maintain all required certifications.

  • Coordinate testing operations at all approved testing locations.

  • Develop testing schedules and coordinate testing logistics.

  • Order, secure, administer, and return testing materials in accordance with testing vendor requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with NCCCS, GED Testing Service, Educational Testing Service, Department of Public Instruction, ADA accommodations, and College policies.

  • Maintain testing records, documentation, security protocols, and reporting requirements.

  • Research, develop, implement, and evaluate College and Career pathway opportunities that align with workforce and community needs.

  • Coordinate pathway initiatives supporting student transition into postsecondary education, workforce training, and employment.

  • Monitor program effectiveness through data collection, reporting, and continuous improvement activities.

Student Advising and Success (25%)
  • Provide academic and career advising to College and Career Readiness students.

  • Assist students in establishing educational, career, and workforce goals.

  • Conduct student intake, orientation, assessment, and educational planning.

  • Maintain ongoing communication with students to encourage persistence, retention, and completion.

  • Identify barriers to student success and refer students to appropriate College departments and community agencies.

  • Support students experiencing academic, financial, employment, transportation, childcare, housing, or personal challenges.

  • Collaborate with Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Human Resource Development (HRD), Student Success and Enrollment Management (SSEM), Accessibility Services, and community organizations.

Recruitment, Outreach, and Retention (15%)
  • Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies supporting College and Career Readiness enrollment goals.

  • Coordinate marketing materials, orientation resources, presentations, and outreach activities.

  • Maintain communication with inactive students to encourage re-enrollment.

  • Participate in College recruitment events, orientations, career fairs, and community outreach activities.

  • Develop partnerships with community agencies, employers, school systems, and workforce organizations.

Compliance, Data Management, and Reporting (10%)
  • Maintain accurate student records and program documentation.

  • Prepare reports required by NCCCS, College leadership, and external agencies.

  • Conduct data analysis to support program planning and student success initiatives.

  • Participate in program audits and monitoring activities.

  • Ensure compliance with FERPA and all applicable federal and state regulations.

Leadership and Collaboration (10%)
  • Provide technical guidance and functional supervision to Instructional Aides, testing personnel, alternate examiners, and proctors.

  • Coordinate professional development activities for testing staff.

  • Serve on College committees and institutional workgroups.

  • Participate in state meetings, professional organizations, and NCCCS training opportunities.

  • Assist with departmental planning, assessment, accreditation, and strategic initiatives.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Education, Adult Education, Counseling, Human Services, Public Administration, or a related field.

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in adult education, workforce development, student services, testing administration, or a related educational environment.

  • Experience interpreting and applying state and federal program requirements.

Preferred
  • Master's degree in Education, Adult Education, Counseling, Educational Leadership, Public Administration, or a related field.

  • Experience with North Carolina Community College System Adult Education programs.

  • Experience administering High School Equivalency testing.

  • Experience supervising testing personnel or coordinating educational programs.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in office, classroom, testing center, and community settings requiring regular interaction with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.

Occasional evening, weekend, and multi-campus travel may be required.

Physical Requirements

Requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and operating standard office equipment. Must occasionally lift and carry testing materials, files, and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
