Tucson Medical Center is seeking a full-time Scheduler with prior experience in scheduling, preferably healthcare scheduling. Responsibilities include coordinating non-emergency surgeries, verifying codes, equipment needs, and implants, and training new staff.
Candidate will collaborate with Medical Records and other departments, post charges, and ensure compliance with safety and confidentiality standards. Prior experience in hospital scheduling is highly valued.
Full time OR scheduler- position requires prior experience with scheduling- healthcare scheduling a plus.
Schedules non-emergency surgeries for Main OR and Ambulatory Surgery. Responsible for checking surgery schedule daily for appropriateness of procedure codes, equipment needs, procedure wording, entity specific procedures, and verification of anesthesia coverage. Checks reports daily to verify services required from other departments and surgeon suspension list. Trains new personnel in surgery scheduling. Responds to surgeon office needs and changes.
Coordinates with managers about issues/problems with tools/times. Avoids scheduling conflicts by monitoring surgery schedules and making sure requests line up. Runs daily reports to verify accuracy of preference card and equipment. Uses fax/telephone to notify specialty department; utilizes software to find information. Communicates with Medical Records and Professional Staff Services as necessary. Schedules surgical procedures by phone, fax, and email including special equipment, correct preference card, patient demographics, and implants. Collects and verifies implant record information. Input and post charges. Follow up on incomplete implant and OR even timing information; works with supply chain to add new items as needed. Orients and trains assigned personnel. Adheres to TMCH organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards. Adheres to and supports team members in exhibiting TMCH values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication. Performs related duties assigned.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Two (2) years of experience maintaining schedules or healthcare files and records; preferably in an acute care setting.
