Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to coordinate scheduling of surgical and other procedures across operating room, physician offices, sedation, and hospital units. This on-site, full-time role requires attention to detail and effective communication with patients, families, physicians and staff.

Responsibilities include managing physician schedules, generating reports and documents, and providing administrative support for clinical activities.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a clinical/medical environment preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with CPT coding and ICD-9 terminology preferred.
  • Experience communicating with patients, families and healthcare staff.

Summary:

Other Information:
Technical Expertise
  • Experience in surgery scheduling is preferred.
  • Experience with and knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9 terminology is preferred.
  • Must be detailed oriented with the ability to make decisions and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with various levels within an organization is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be compassionate towards families experiencing stressful conditions.
  • Experience in healthcare is preferred.
  • Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
  • Experience working in an electronic medical record system (i.e. EPIC) is preferred.
Education and Experience
  • Education: High School diploma is required.
  • Certification: None.
  • Years of relevant experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a clinical/medical environment is preferred.
  • Years of experience supervising: None.
