San Juan College in Farmington, NM seeks a motivated safety expert to lead and grow our Online Safety Degree Programs within the School of Energy.

This 12-month, on-campus position emphasizes workforce development, industry partnerships, and robust safety curriculum. The ideal candidate brings OSHA knowledge, hazard analysis, and safety-management experience, plus a credential or pursuit of one. Responsibilities include course development, accreditation coordination, and advising students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the occupational field.
• At least one industry-recognized credential.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Develops, prepares and teaches courses; manages syllabi, assignments, tests, and records.
• Provides students with responsive and substantive interaction on an ongoing basis.
• Coordinates scheduling of program courses and catalog dates, times and descriptions.
• Directs curriculum and program assessment per accreditation standards.
• Identifies regional employer partners and chairs advisory committees.
• Continuously monitors changing needs of employers and students; revises offerings.
• Coordinates program accreditation functions.
• Maintains attendance records, grades and required records; enters courses into LMS.
• Supervises instructors; ensures materials and resources.
• Resolves student and staff issues; participates in recruitment.
• Serves as Emergency Response Coordinator; updates plans; primary contact in emergencies.
• Serves on college committees; performs related duties.

Position Summary

San Juan College is seeking a motivated safety expert to lead and grow our Online Safety Degree Programs within the School of Energy.

The Ideal Candidate

• Experienced safety professional from energy, construction, industrial, or manufacturing environments
• Passionate about mentoring and workforce development
• Familiar with OSHA standards, hazard analysis, and safety management systems
• Holds or is pursuing professional safety certifications

Essential Duties

• Develops, prepares and teaches courses; prepares syllabi; assignments and tests; evaluates and records student performance; counsels, tutors, and mentors students.
• Provides students with responsive and substantive interaction on an ongoing basis.
• Coordinates the scheduling of program courses; creates and approves catalog course dates, times and descriptions.
• Directs and organizes systematic curriculum and program assessment and evaluation activities according to accreditation and college standards; initiates changes, additions or deletions as needed.
• Identifies relevant regional employer partners and enlists their participation into a supporting advisory committee; conducts advisory committee meetings.
• Continuously monitors changing needs of employers and students, revises program offerings and structure as warranted.
• Coordinates program accreditation functions.
• Maintains student attendance records, grades and other required records.
• Enters program courses into the learning management system.
• Supervises the work of program instructors; ensures that instructors have needed materials and resources.
• Resolves student and staff issues and concerns.
• Participates in student recruitment activities.
• Serves as the Emergency Response Coordinator for the School of Energy; develops and updates emergency response and continuity of operations plans; serves as primary contact in the event of an emergency.
• Serves on assigned college committees. Performs related duties.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a field related to the occupational field.
• Possession of at least one industry recognized credential.
• Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions, usually 3–5 years.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of New Mexico for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
