Job summary

Medical City Dallas, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Laboratory Shift Coordinator to lead the 1930–0700 night shift. This role oversees the laboratory operations, quality control, equipment maintenance, and specimen collection, coordinating technical and administrative activities across all lab sections.

You will ensure STAT, routine, and critical value reporting meet turnaround times; manage staff schedules and development; liaise with providers and department managers to optimize services

• Oversee overnight lab operations, including high-quality tests, QC, and equipment maintenance.
• Ensure turnaround times for STAT, routine, and critical value reporting.
• Lead staff development and training for MLS, MLT, lab assistants and phlebotomists.

Job Summary and Qualifications

What qualifications you will need:

• Responsible for the overall operations of the laboratory for the night shift. This includes providing and supervising high-quality lab tests,quality control, preventive maintenance of equipment, computer activities, and collection of specimens. You will coordinate the technical and administrative operations of all sections of the Laboratory.
• Ensures STAT, routine testing, and critical value reporting meet established turnaround times
• Performs all Lab Section Management activities to include but not limited to: staff training and development
• Serves as a liaison between laboratory staff, health care providers, department managers, and health care entities to facilitate communication and coordination regarding services and results.
• Maintains work schedules and assignments for MLS, MLT, Lab Assistants and Phlebotomists.
• Accepts accountability for completion of assignments, demonstrates reliability and dependability (including compliancewith the attendance policy), and utilizes time and material cost-effectively.
• Reflects HCA values and it ethical and compliance principles in his/her daily activities (Code of Conduct).
• Strong problem solving, management, prioritization, and leadership skills necessary.

• Bachelors Degree
• (HTL-ASCP) Histotechnologist, or (MLS) Medical Laboratory Scientist, or (CG-ASCP) Technologist in Cytogenetics, or (MT-AAB) Medical Technologist
