Job summary

Medical City Dallas is seeking a Laboratory Shift Coordinator to manage the night shift operations, ensuring timely STAT and routine testing, QC, and equipment maintenance. The role requires coordinating technical and administrative activities across all lab sections and leading a team of MLS, MLT, Lab Assistants, and Phlebotomists.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree and national certification in a clinical laboratory discipline.
• Experience leading a night-shift laboratory team is preferred.
• Knowledge of QA/QC, preventive maintenance, and specimen collection.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the night shift laboratory operations, ensuring high-quality lab tests and accurate turnaround times.
• Coordinate technical and administrative operations across all laboratory sections.
• Maintain staff schedules for MLS, MLT, Lab Assistants and Phlebotomists; ensure attendance and productivity.
• Serve as liaison between lab staff, healthcare providers, and department managers to coordinate services and results.
• Uphold Code of Conduct and institutional ethics in daily activities.

Job Summary And Qualifications

What qualifications you will need:

• Responsible for the overall operations of the laboratory for the night shift. This includes providing and supervising high-quality lab tests, quality control, preventive maintenance of equipment, computer activities, and collection of specimens. You will coordinate the technical and administrative operations of all sections of the Laboratory.
• Ensures STAT, routine testing, and critical value reporting meet established turnaround times
• Performs all Lab Section Management activities to include but not limited to: staff training and development
• Serves as a liasion between laboratory staff, health care providers, department managers, and health care entities to faciliate communication and coordination regarding services and results.
• Maintains work schedules and assignments for MLS, MLT, Lab Assistants and Phlebotomists.
• Accepts accountability for completion of assignments, demonstrates reliability and dependability (including compliance with the attendance policy), and utilizes time and material cost-effectively.
• Reflects HCA values and it ethical and compliance principles in his/her daily activities (Code of Conduct).

+Strong problem solving, management, prioritization, and leadership skills necessary.

What qualifications you will need:

• Bachelors Degree
• (HTL-ASCP) Histotechnologist, or (MLS) Medical Laboratory Scientist, or (CG-ASCP) Technologist in Cytogenetics, or (MT-AAB) Medical Technologist
