Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, public relations, counseling, psychology, or a related area is required.
  • One year of related experience is required. Experience related to student development, coordinating programs and activities, event planning, education and/or public speaking is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coaches students regarding job search strategies and job search skill development including professional document preparation, interview techniques, networking, and employer research.
  • Plans and delivers educational programs and services.
  • Coordinates and delivers career-related presentations, programs, and events to the campus community.
  • Coordinates and/or collaborates with college staff to support campus-wide and college-specific career initiatives.
  • Markets departmental services to students, employers, alumni, faculty, and staff.
  • Engages with employer recruiters to connect them with students through career fairs, online career management platforms, and other resources.
  • Assists with developing departmental learning and development outcomes and tools for collecting data.
  • Prepares and analyzes various special, quarterly, monthly, and ad hoc reports.
  • Supervises and trains assigned student and graduate assistants.
  • Stays abreast of national, state, and local hiring practices, employment trends, and other labor related issues.

SUMMARY

This is a professional position responsible for assisting in theoperations and programming of the Center for Career Education andExploration. Responsible for coordinating career developmentprograms for students, conducting student appointments, leadingpresentations related to departmental services and studentprofessional development, planning events and workshops, developingand implementing marketing strategies, and supervising assignedstudent and graduate assistants. Works under general supervision,with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independentjudgment. Reports to the Assistant Director.

JOB DESCRIPTION
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, public relations,counseling, psychology, or a related area is required. Relatedexperience may be substituted for required education on a basis setforth by the Department of Human Resources.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. May assist with special projects, including career events, jobfairs, and orientation.
  2. May assist with maintaining departmental website and careermanagement platforms.
  3. May represent the department and university on variouscommittees, in professional organizations, and atmeetings/conferences.
  4. May receive and/or supervise the receipt of payments fromstudents and others for departmentally sponsored activities.
  5. Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, andabilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individualcan perform the essential functions of the job, with or withoutreasonable accommodation.
