Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall in Newburgh, NY, seeks a Health Information Management & Clin Doc professional to coordinate regulatory reporting of births to the NYS Perinatal Data System.

The role collects and transfers patient data to register births and to provide prenatal statistics, acting as a liaison among HIM, parents, nurses, obstetricians and the Department of Health. Qualified candidates have a high school diploma (associates preferred), RHIT preferred, and two years of healthcare

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associates degree preferred.
• Formal knowledge of Medical Terminology or 2 years in obstetrical/ Mama-baby setting.
• Two years of experience with abstracting, analyzing, and reporting healthcare data.

City/State: Newburgh, New York Department: Health Information Management & Clin Doc Work Shift: Work Days: MON-FRI Scheduled Hours: 8 AM-4 PM Scheduled Daily Hours: 7.5 HOURS Hourly Rate/Range: $25 - $28 Sign-On Bonus: N/A For positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors.

Coordinates regulatory reporting of all births to the New York State Perinatal Data System. Collects and electronically transfers patient data in order to register births and provide prenatal statistical information on all newborn infants and their parents, Liaison between Health Information Management, parents, nurses, obstetricians, Department of Health and various City Halls.

Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred. Requires formal knowledge of Medical Terminology by successful completion of an approved terminology course or 2 years of experience working in an Obstetrical office or in a Hospital Mother/Baby unit. Ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English and Spanish.

Experience: Two years of experience with abstracting, analyzing, and reporting healthcare data in an acute care setting required. Strong interpersonal skills required. Strong computer skills necessary. Attention to detail required to create permanent legal documents. Excellent customer service.

Licensure, Registration or Certification: RHIT preferred.
