Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall is seeking a billing professional to manage follow-up on insurance balances and ensure timely payments according to payer policies and hospital contracts.

The role requires familiarity with UB04, CPT, ICD-10 and electronic claims submission, with preferred experience in HISS, Meditech, and nThrive. Strong MS Office skills and English literacy are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; AA/AS preferred.
• Minimum two years hospital or physician billing experience.
• Experience with electronic claims submission.
• Strong knowledge of UB04, CPT and ICD-10; knowledge of CMS/Medicaid/BC or Commercial payer policies.
• HISS system knowledge; Meditech and nThrive preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; able to write appeal letters in Word.
• English reading/writing required.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Responsible for accurate and timely follow up on all primary and secondary insurance balances to ensure payments are received in accordance to the Payer policy and/or Hospital contracts.

Qualifications

• High School Required
• AA or AS Preferred
• Minimum two years recent hospital or physician billing with experience in all major payers
• Required Experience with electronic claims submission and be well organized
• Required Knowledge of UB04, CPT and ICD-10 required as well as specific knowledge in one of these areas of billing CMS, Medicaid, BC and/or Commercial
• Must have HISS system knowledge, Meditech and nThrive preferred
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, with a required skill of writing appeal letters in Microsoft Word
• Able to read, write, and communicate in English

Certification

• Medical Billing or Patient Financial Services Certification Required
• Certification of Billing, PFS or coding through credited bodies such as HFMA, AHIMA, HBI, etc within 90 Days Required
