Job summary

BERKELEY COUNTY GOVERNMENT is seeking a detail‑oriented coordinator to manage the Coordinated Departmental Review process for Engineering and Planning & Zoning. You will liaise with developers, engineers, consultants, and reviewers to ensure timely, compliant permit approvals.

The role requires interpreting ordinances, tracking timelines, and producing clear guidance and reports. Strong data skills and cross‑department collaboration are essential for efficient development processes.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Planning, Public Administration, Engineering, or related field.
• 5 years of related experience; or 2–4 years in land development coordination, planning, permitting, or zoning administration.
• Experience working with developers, engineers, consultants, and regulatory reviewers is preferred.
• Strong ability to interpret local ordinances, policies, and processes and provide clear guidance to applicants.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Coordinated Departmental Review processes across Engineering, Planning & Zoning.
• Coordinate with developers, engineers, consultants, and reviewers to determine completeness and compliance.
• Track permit and plan review status, timelines, and documentation.
• Create and analyze reports, spreadsheets, and databases for submittals and workflow.
• Draft professional correspondence and internal/external communications.
• Support departmental meetings with agenda prep and documentation.
