Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota seeks a kitchen cook to prepare meals for diverse populations and to package or transport bulk meals to satellite sites in the Minneapolis area.

The role requires prior kitchen experience and knowledge of quantity cooking, health regulations, and safe food handling. A valid driver's license is preferred, and a $600 hiring bonus is offered. Flexible schedule with no weekends and a strong community impact.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen experience is required.
• Minimum of one year of equivalent experience in a full-service kitchen in a health care facility, school or restaurant.
• Knowledge of quantity cooking: follow standardized recipes and scale for meals.
• Knowledge of all kitchen equipment and utensils usage.
• Knowledge of Health Department regulations.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions, train, supervise, and direct site staff and volunteers.
• Represent LSS in a professional manner through dress code and hygiene.
• Represent LSS as the provider of this service to engage diners.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals to serve or package for youth to adult populations and transport in bulk to satellite meal sites.
• In larger kitchens, support a Senior cook in duties.
• In smaller kitchens, work independently with guidance from the Regional Manager and Assistant Director of Production.

This role offers a flexible schedule, NO weekends and plays a huge role in your local community!

This position will prepare meals to serve or package for various populations from youth to adult and/or transport in bulk to satellite meal sites. In larger kitchens, this position will support a Senior cook in these duties. In smaller kitchens, this work may be done independently with the guidance of the Regional Manager and Assistant Director of Production.

• Knowledge of all kitchen equipment and utensils usage.

• Ability to follow written and oral instructions, train, supervise, and direct site staff and volunteers.
• Represent LSS in a professional manner through adhering to dress code and personal hygiene practices.
• Represent LSS as the provider of this service, engaging with diners to promote a welcoming and inviting atmosphere
• Valid driver’s license preferred

The successful candidate must be cleared by a Bureau of Criminal Affairs (BCA) background study and have a drivers’ license; a Motor Vehicle Check (MVR) is required.
