Job summary

BayCare is seeking a Cook at St. Joseph's Hospital South in Riverview, FL to provide nutritious meals for patients, visitors and staff.

This role requires hands-on food preparation, adherence to recipes, and a strong focus on safety and sanitation. Requirements include 4 years of cooking experience, or 2 years with a high school diploma or culinary diploma; high school diploma or equivalent; and ServSafe Manager certification within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Prepare foods according to recipes and production methods.
• Maintain high quality with safe handling and daily QC checks.
• Operate multiple stations and check taste, temperature and presentation.
• Train staff on production, safety, and sanitation practices.
• Lead production in absence of Executive Chef.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Prepare foods according to recipes and production methods.
• Ensure quality and safety through sanitation and QC checks.
• Manage multiple stations and monitor taste, temperature and presentation.
• Train staff on production processes and safety.
• Lead kitchen operations in the Executive Chef's absence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the preparation of foods according to the standardized recipes, and production methods.
• Ensures high quality using safe, sanitary food handling techniques during preparation, service and storage and daily quality control checks.
• Works multiple production stations and conducts quality control checks on taste, temperature and presentation on patient, cafeteria, and catering foods.
• Trains and orients selected staff on food production along with safety and sanitation practices.
• Leads production in absence of Executive Chef according to facility.
• Performs other duties as necessary.

Experience

• Required: 4 years as a Cook / 2 years with high school Diploma or Culinary Diploma
• Preferred: 2 years in Healthcare

Education

• Required:High School Diploma or Equivalent

Certification

• Required: ServSafe Manager food safety certification within 1 year of hire.
