Job summary

Miss J's Cafe is hiring a Cook & Server to deliver friendly, efficient service and accurate order processing in a fast-paced diner environment.

As a key front-of-house team member, you will greet guests, take orders, handle payments, assist the kitchen, and help maintain a clean, welcoming dining area while promoting specials and maintaining high guest satisfaction.

This role offers weekly pay and opportunities for growth within a close-knit team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably in a restaurant.
• Basic math skills and the ability to handle cash transactions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Friendly, approachable demeanor with a focus on customer satisfaction.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and flexible with hours, including weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide a welcoming atmosphere.
• Answer inquiries and assist with menu choices, providing recommendations when needed.
• Process orders and payments accurately and efficiently.
• Resolve customer complaints or concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
• Ensure customers have a positive dining experience by delivering outstanding service.
• Accurately operate the cash register and handle cash, credit, and debit payments.
• Keep the register area tidy and balanced at the start and end of each shift.
• Enter orders into the system and ensure kitchen staff receive correct details.
• Communicate any special requests to kitchen staff and ensure timely delivery of orders.
• Assist with packaging takeout orders and ensure all items are included.
• Maintain cleanliness of dining and register areas and restock supplies.
• Collaborate with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth operations.
• Promote promotions and upsell desserts, drinks, or sides.
• Ensure promotional materials are up-to-date and visible to customers.
