Job summary

MGM Resorts International, home to Scarpetta in Las Vegas, is seeking a passionate Cook with strong culinary fundamentals and an appreciation for Italian cuisine.

You will perform from-scratch cooking, including fresh pasta, in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen, with on-call weekends/holidays as needed. Pleasant dining experiences and WOW hospitality are expected.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• 2+ years of prior cook experience in a professional kitchen preferred.
• Pasta making experience is a plus, including fresh pasta.
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen.
• On-call schedule including weekends and holidays may be required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of food products and apply culinary techniques.
• Identify and safely use kitchen equipment.
• Restock kitchen supplies and ingredients for service.
• Label and date products to ensure safety and sanitation.
• Maintain menu knowledge and precise plate presentation.
• Support kitchen leadership and staff during service.
• Prepare base sauces, stocks and soups; assist guests as needed.

THE JOB:

We're seeking a passionate Cook with strong culinary fundamentals, an appreciation for Italian cuisine, and experience with from-scratch cooking, including fresh pasta. In this role, you'll skillfully apply culinary techniques, deliver exceptional quality and genuine hospitality, and create memorable WOW dining experiences that guests will remember long after their visit.

THE STARTING RATE: $23.6747/hr

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

• Maintain solid knowledge of food products and skillfully apply culinary techniques
• Identify and safely use kitchen equipment
• Restock kitchen supplies and food items required for service
• Properly label and date products to ensure safekeeping and sanitation
• Maintain solid menu knowledge and attention to detail with plate presentation
• Assist kitchen leadership and staff in execution of service
• Maintain solid knowledge, understanding and preparation of base sauces, stocks and soups
• Work as a team, assist all guests needs and inquiries

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• 2+ years of prior relevant experience as a Cook in a professional kitchen preferred
• Pasta-making experience is a plus, including fresh pasta preparation
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen environment
• Must be available to work an on-call schedule, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs
